Third Solo Flight

Saturday:
Today was my third solo flight, the morning started with fog and low clouds. There was a slight 3-5 mph cross wind from the NE. I got the wide angle lens I bought and glued it to the camera. Since the camera is plastic the magnetic lens doesn't stick. After mounting the camera I taxied to the runway, I called on the radio for a radio check, I didn't get any response from any of the aircraft in the circuit, I was already in line for take-off with three other planes behind me, I knew a radio wasn't required and I proceeded to the runway. After listening to the other planes in the circuit I jumped in before a plane on base and took off. The climb out was similar to the previous weekend with turbulence and a head wind. This time around I knew it will be bumpy getting up and I relaxed more while swinging under the wing. At around 1000 ft the air became smooth hand I headed out to the north. There was smoke coming from a brush fire mixed in with some lingering fog, it was kinda cool flying above the fog looking down. I relaxed more and started to enjoy the smooth air looking at the fields below. For the first time I used the cruise control lever. I got the trike up to 1500 ft and tried to maintain my altitude. I was flying into a crosswind and had to crab to maintain my direction. I flew for 20 min and just passed Dade City and decided to turn back. I am like a young bird flying a bit further from the nest every time I go out to fly. The whole time I was thinking about getting back into the circuit not having my radio transmitting. On my way back I listened to the chatter of the many planes in the circuit doing touch and goes. I approached at 1500 ft well above the aircraft in the circuit, I saw one go by under me heading down wind leg, I dove down and joined the circuit. Another plane was turning base when I was parallel with the threshold of the runway. Since I knew the other plane was quite a distance away before turning finals I decided to dive in on a short base and final. The turbulence hit me but I didn't have a problem lining up and came in for a smooth landing in my opinion..hehe. I taxied off the runway as fast as I could in case there was another plane on my tail. The disappointment came when I wanted to see what the video looked like since I changed the mounting and another lens to see if I can got rid of the wavy effect. At first I thought I had the camera looking at the early fog, then I realized I got some of the super glue on the lens and it made everything come out blurred. Back at home I was able to get the lens of the camera with acetone and clean the lens. Then I read the instruction how to fit the lens and found some rings to help me mount the lens without the glue, so much for not reading the manual. I cleaned everything and now I am ready for the next session.
